Five New Songs

Working solely with materials, instruments & ideas found or built on site at Cirkulacija2 in the last two weeks. The five works on the schedule are each self contained performances lasting between 2 minutes and half an hour.

Joe Summers is an instrument & performance maker interested in amplifying and modulating experiences of sound. For this new set of short (possibly Fluxus style) pieces, he attempts this by exploring extramusical actions, with sounds occurring as consequences rather than starting points.

Joe grew up in rural England, resides now in Berlin, and co-owns the record label First Terrace Records.

This is his fourth time experiencing the famous hospitality of Cirkulacija2 – you may remember him from his efforts with Vida Vojic and others playing as an improvising ensemble in 2018, or his hat-trick of performances in 2019 (Last of England/300,000 Souls/Music for Fences) with different collaborators.

Generally more comfortable in company, this is the first time he will perform solo at C2, and is using the opportunity to explore & develop new formats.
