Sukitoa O Namau & Joe Summers live
For the last of his three curated events this month, C2 resident Joe Summers invites Moroccan artist & sound researcher Sukitoa O Namau to create a new site specific performance for Cirkulacija 2. Expect an immersive performance from the pair, blurring the lines between sound sculpture, performance art and music.
On thursday at 21.30 lengthy presentation of work and thoughts of both artists on the airwaves and stream of Radio Student Ljubljana -> https://radiostudent.si/glasba/glasbeno-drobovje/joe-summers-in-sukitoa-o-namau
Sukitoa‘s background is rooted into contemporary dance, performing arts and visual arts. On her academic path in Performing Arts and Theater Studies, she centered her fields of study on the subject of Choreographical Thresholds and to a possible dance below and beyond the dancing body. She incorporated sound to her practice while directing a dance piece, Des fleurs pour Schrödinger, for which she composed and performed a soundtrack.
From then on, she has been using sound as a medium to deepen her reflection about Thresholds through field recordings, processed sounds and electronics.
Joe’s sound work has it’s foundation in collaboration, often working with improvisation and in close communication with spaces & objects, creating an environment that encourages an exploration of the limits of noise & song. His previous events for C2 this month include an experimental opera/radio play for an audience on Ljubljana castle hill, and a live score for Derek Jarman’s “The Last Of England”.
