Vida Vojić – Dreams of New Narratives

He told me he’s happy to hear that I will study again. “If we continue to learn, we stay young forever” he said and smiled.

These are times when time appears to be shortened. I am young, but feel old, because the world seems old and tired. External threats grow bigger, but how do we grow with them? What is the message of the young culture, of the young trends? We stated it many times already – we need to make changes at the core of how we perceive our own existence, but instead of feeling imprisoned by structures of an outdated world order – is it time to ask ourselves the most basic questions again? ‘Dreams of a new narrative’ is a performance which strives to find new light for our eyes to focus, in what continues to feel like expanding darkness. It is an attempt to confront the current mess and together raise our imagination and hope. Instead of letting rejection shape our future, could faith be found in a longing new narrative?

Vida Vojić is a Berlin-based artist mainly working with music, sound, words and space to create her performances. She returns for a residency at Cirkulacija2 for the second year in a row, and as last year’s performance focused on the striving to understand oneself as an individual, this year’s performance will be a subtle continuation, centred more around collectiveness and how to pose questions externally in order to reconnect as a group and prepare for new times.
