STEPMOTHER is a multigenerational, cross-genre international group from Slovenia, the Netherlands, Germany, and Switzerland. On their European tour, they present their new album, Bring Me Flowers and Tell Me You Love Me: a collection of eclectic characters who speak, sing, and growl in a multilingual, almost Dadaist poetry, interwoven with genre-shifting passages of eerie saxophones and clarinets, punctuated by funky yet fractured rhythms and noisy guitars. From world-conquering succulents to goblin marketplaces and drunken gamblers, this band is here to surprise your senses and take you into an underworld of strange creatures and a nostalgic yet contemporary sound of Rock in Opposition, infused with free improvisation and eccentric theatricality.
Stepmother consists of their youngest vocalist, Tisa Neža Herlec, aka Tisa World, who knows how to command a microphone; original members of the group, which has been around for over a decade, Lukas Simonis (Dull Schicksal, Bazip Zeehok, Coolhaven …) and Jeroen Visser (Pale Nudes, Fendika & K-Sanchis …); and the newest additions, Philipp Ernsting, who provides the rhythm and always manages to set the pace, and Flo Götte, who lays down the bass without breaking a sweat. The album also features Bill Gilonis (The Work, The Hat Shoes, Hail …).
Listen here and get ready for a live show where their vibrant sonic world will welcome you in like an old friend and give you everything from kisses to insults!
