Vida Vojić :: DRUGAČEN GROOVE JE MOŽEN! [s kolegi poeti…]

Vida is back in Ljubljana for her sixth project in Cirkulacija 2. Vida Vojić aka vida voyage, is a music and performance artist, ‘alchemical drummer’ and writer from Gothenburg, Sweden.

She will present her work in Cirkulacija 2 on Saturday, 31st of August 2024 at 19.00.

In the first “beatnik” part she will perform together with Slovene poets: Pino Pograjc, Lara Božak and Veronika Razpotnik.

The main part of the evening is Vida’s further development of combined drumming and vocal practice – as a tool for structuring performances and delivering poetry:

Coming fresh out of a period of writing, Vida will be sharing excerpts from her forthcoming book – one which has arisen out of the hammering rhythms of the drum – thus a beating, musical undertone is driving the language. The book is a collection of texts that explores the meaning and value of music through contemporary vs timeless perspectives, with autofictional reports from various music scenes, and an exploration of the occasional benefits in being an idiot.

Pino Pograjc, born in 1997 in Slovenia, is currently in his last year of dual-subject MA studies of English and Comparative Literature at the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana. He grew up in Kamnik, where (as a teenager) he first read his poems in front of an audience at the local slam poetry competition at Kotlovnica and has won several times. In 2022, the newly-formed, alternative publishing house Črna skrinjica (“Black Box”) published his literary debut, Trgetanje. The poetry collection received the award for Best Literary Debut at the 38th Slovenian Book Fair. In 2022 he also became part of the selection jury for the Ljubljana LGBT Film Festival, the oldest film festival of its sort in Europe. In 2024, the queer publishing house ŠKUC-Lambda published his second poetry collection, Trepete. In the same year he received the Mlado pero award for young writers, awarded by the Delo newspaper. His third collection is set to be published in November of 2024, again at the Črna skrinjica publishing house.

Lara Božak’s creative work moves between the fields of poetry and music. Within a guitar-vocal duo Peta stran neba (Fifth side of the sky) she explores the intersection of singer-songwriter music and jazz. In September 2023, she released her literary debut Z luknjami v prepihu (With holes in the draught). The book was nominated for the prize of Best Literary Debut at the 38th Slovenian Book Fair and was selected for a critical debate at The Pranger Festival of literary criticism, translation and poetry reading.

Veronika Razpotnik is a biochemist and a master student of French. She has published two poetry collections, Krekspot na požarnih štengah (2021) that was nominated for the literary debut of the year and Sršena pičim nazaj (2024). She regularly organizes and participates in queer literary and other cultural events in Ljubljana.
